Design follows function

Ever tried cutting bread with a butter knife? Frustrating, right?
“Design follows function” is solid rule for everything, from coffee mugs to game items. If players pick up a weapon that looks like a powerhouse but feels like a noodle, they’re not only confused — they’re disappointed.
Nobody wants that.
Clarity isn’t nice to have when attention spans are shorter than a TikTok clip. Players need to instantly know what an item does, this allows to feel smart because they understood it quickly.
And that leads to more engagement!
Here is how we approached weapon set design in Rogue Nation:
⚖️ BattleBasic → “your regular boring weapons” → balanced stats
🏴☠️ Mutiny → pirate-inspired designs → low accuracy, high damage, small clip
🔥 IronTorch → WW2 machinery meets fantasy → built for attack speed
🏜️ Wastelander → bulky, post-apocalyptic → “Why reload if you can just shoot?”
TLDR Good design isn’t about just “pretty.” It’s a guide.
