The global anime market has been on a rise for years. And is expected to accelerate further.

Valued at $24.8 billion in 2021 and reaching $30.65 billion in 2023, today in 2024 Anime market size is estimated at $33.13 billion, and is expected to reach $49.68 billion by 2029.

There were several factors that will likely accelerate this growth

Anime productions were dealing with shortage of skilled professionals in the anime landscape which limited the growth factor. With improved AI tools production of Anime content is likely to ramp up in the next few years.

The Asia-Pacific region had the major anime market. However the popularity of streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Crunchyroll made anime way more accessible which accelerated adoption of it’s aesthetics in the West. And will likely continue doing so.

This growth is largely driven by Millennials and Gen Z, with over 90% of anime consumers falling between 13 and 35 years old according to Crunchyroll.

It's tempting to assume that anime/manga aesthetics will soon permeate other entertainment sectors in the West, notably gaming.
